Welcome to ChurchMetal.com! I’m Mark Verhein, President of Church Metal Spinning Co., Inc., and I’m delighted to share how our unwavering commitment to metal spinning precision, exceptional quality, and manufacturing excellence benefits you—our valued customers and partners.

At Church Metal, metal spinning isn’t just a service—it’s a dedication to a centuries-old craft and creating meticulously crafted, high-quality parts.  Serving industries across transportation, food processing, construction, architecture, and more, we take pride in transforming sheet metal into precision cylindrical components with tight tolerances and consistent finishes.

Meticulous Tolerances and Craftsmanship

In metal spinning, achieving precise tolerances demands skill and deliberate control. Our Metal Spinning Design Guidelines clearly outline how the tightness of tolerance directly impacts production effort and cost. For parts up to 6″, typical tolerances run ±0.030″ (“cost‑standard”) with the option to tighten to ±0.015″ (“special”) and, in high-precision cases, reach ±0.005″. Even larger parts maintain this approach—up to 46″ with tolerances ranging from ±0.125″ down to ±0.030″ for specialized parts.

When even finer accuracy is required, our close‑tolerance spun parts capability shines. For diameters from 5″ to 24″, machined features can be held to ±0.005″ (±0.12 mm)—a level of precision critical for bearing seals, slip-fit covers, and other demanding applications. We achieve this by machining features while the part remains supported and centered on our Leifeld spinning lathes, ensuring concentricity. Internal diameters are completed in a secondary operation using our CNC Trak tool-room lathe with custom soft jaws.

Precision Beyond Spinning: Laser Cutting & Fabrication

Precision doesn’t stop at spinning. Our Laser Cutting and Fabrication Design Guidelines show that tolerances for laser-cut parts are equally controlled. For parts up to 16″, we achieve ±0.015″ (standard) and ±0.0025″ (special); for parts over 16″, we can hold ±0.030″ (standard) and ±0.010″ (special) tolerances.

State-of-the-Art Facilities & Quality Assurance

Delivering top-tier precision depends on the world-class equipment that Church Metal provides. Our factory is outfitted with leading-edge machinery, including Leifeld, Prism, Autospin, and Floturn spinning systems. The CNC-controlled machines are augmented by our refurbished and updated Bedinger hand-spinning lathes. Supporting forming, extrusion, and bending needs are hydraulic presses and electric brake presses (75T, 100T). In our expanding sheet metal cylinder production, we have multiple urethane rollers, coupled with our standard TIG seam welding machines and our new investment in a Weil laser welding machine.

Laser cutting is performed using Mitsubishi systems—from flat cutting 8 kW and 2.5 kW to multi-axis 4kW lasers—offering incredible versatility across material types and thicknesses. For quality validation, our shop features Faro CMM (7-axis arm), Laser Line Probe, and an 8th-axis rotary inspection table to ensure parts meet spec at every angle.

Our ISO 9001:2015 Quality System underpins it all. We partner with external auditors quarterly and BSI annually. Gages are NIST-certified, revisions are strictly controlled, and every job undergoes in‑process and final inspections with full traceability of material records.

From Specification to Delivery—On Time, Every Time

What does all this mean for you? It means that Church Metal delivers parts that are:

  • To specification, and meeting your prints and process standards.
  • On time, supported by our robust quality system and process discipline.
  • Consistently improving, thanks to ongoing investment in people and equipment, and ongoing audits.
